31 for 21: Day 18 Destiny’s Art

On Monday we were invited to go see Destiny’s art in the Chapman Cultural Art building. Her art teacher had selected hers to get displayed. The art teacher chose 5 from the school. So district one and district seven were displayed right now and will be displayed for a couple of months and they they will chose two different districts. The art is in the hallway leading to the Spartanburg Art Museum. They are also displayed upstairs too…Destiny’s art was in the hallway right before the Art Museum.

They opened up the Spartanburg Art Museum and allowed everyone to go through it free of charge.

This was an interesting piece…the girls liked this one…

They also served snacks/refreshments and tea…

Yes that is my 11 yr old in sitting in a stroller…she’s kind of strange;)

31 for 21: Day 13 happy Birthday Destiny

Today’s post has nothing to do with Ds..its all about celebrating our oldest birthday.
Happy 11th Birthday Destiny!!!! 

 

Wow…has it already been 11 years since we welcomed you into this world…Its really crazy how fast time flies..it really does just seem like yesterday…Destiny was 13 days late..My due date was Oct. 1 and every day that went by seemed like eternity..I was just dying to meet my baby..we didn’t know if she was a girl or boy and it was driving me crazy.. she is the only one that we didn’t find out..I couldn’t do it again..She was my hardest labor/delivery. I labored at home for 48 hrs. I was going on about 48hrs of ZERO sleep. I was going in to be induced bc I was two weeks over and well I was far enough on my own that I didn’t need to be induced..yay for that!!!  But I had horrible back labor with her…I had an epidural and I still felt everything..the front and the back..I almost went crazy..not kidding… Back labor is no fun..you don’t know if you should grab your stomach or your back bc you are in so much pain..with no relief from anything..I pushed the longest with her..three and half hours..I was exhausted..and finally the dr decided it was time to get the vacuum out to help…and I will remember it as plain as day..I had a new dr. he had just came into the practice that I was going to the last couple of weeks and of course I had to get him.. .I don’t advise that…Anyways as he is getting the vacuum out he looks at the vacuum and says what’s this???…..excuse me mister..but WHAT>>>>!!!!!!  I about lost it..You don’t know what it is and you are about to use it doing what…The nurses felt the need to explain to me later that it was just not what he was used to and it was a different one…I don’t really care he should not of said that in front of a laboring woman..that was almost to the point of going loco.. She finally arrived at 12:37pm and she came out not screaming..me and Jared just stared at each other..we were sooo scared as to what was going on..They rushed her over to the table and were working on her for what seemed like forever..and FINALLY she screamed and it was music to my ears…

Not the best picture bc I had to scan it in…but look at how tired I look…and how young..my oh my…I was only 19 when I had her..My first born..The one who made me a mom…who made me feel that love like no other. I had only just met her and I was totally smitten in love with her..she was perfect..just perfect…and her daddy was totally in love with her too…He was such a proud first time daddy too…I love this picture of them…in fact Destiny has it beside her bed in a frame..she likes it too The second picture was when she was 6 days old…check out all of her hair..she was born with some hair..and she still has some hair..tons of it!!

We both couldn’t get enough of her…That day on October 13, 2001 we became first time parents..we became a family of three. Thank you GOD for blessing us with Destiny 11 years ago and making us parents and blessing our family..

Destiny is very much a girlie girl..she loves to shop..she loves clothes..she loves, loves shoes..She loves fancy things..she is always particular about her hair..and always wants to look good before leaving the house..The girl is hilarious..Want to hear her last joke…We were at Spinx with my SIL after the buddy walk and I told Destiny to run over and give her a bottle of water..and as she is handing her the water she tells her “making your life easier” which is the Spinx sayin..its all over there signs…lol!!  She loves to play piano..and she plays it soo well..I love to listen to her. She is very smart..she loves to read and loves to go to the beach, loves horses..begs to have a horse almost every day..its not possible we don’t have enough land yet. and loves to swim..she taught her self how to swim.  She loves art too..she was in the art club last year.and I just got a letter the other day telling me that they had chosen her art to be displayed in the Spartanburg Arts Center..so we are going to go and see it on Monday..and she just told me that she thinks that they also chose a piece to be displayed at the District One office. She is a great singer and is on the honors choir at school..(which she is going to have to perform) She don’t like to get in front of people..kind of shy like that..she wont do the talent show at school bc she don’t want to get up there in front of everyone and play piano..but she will do it at her recitals..she makes no sense..She wont do any sports what so ever bc she doesn’t want any body watching her. She is very helpful around the house. She can cook supper..and she loves to bake..she has pretty much taken over the baking in our house..I hardly do any bc she wants to do it all the time. we have had our failed attempts but at least she is learning..right?? She is good at it too..she knows what she wants and just goes with it.. She does all of it all by herself now.no help from me..But she can also just get bored and start picking..and she wont stop..she will pick on all of the girls..One thing is for sure though…She loves her sisters..and she loves Avery.

Destiny’s braces

The time has come finally for Destiny to get braces…We have been going to the ortho for the last year or so to just keep an eye on her teeth..and to get some pulled when he said bc she has A LOT of overcrowding going on…She also has a BAD overbite…So they put braces on the top last Thursday. They cant put the bottom on yet bc of her overbite..she would just knock the brace of with her top teeth..so they have to put the top ones on for awhile then after they straighten out a little then they will put the bottom ones on.

Let the fun begin!!!  NOT!!!  At least its not me..and that’s all I have to say..I would never want them.what a pain..She is finally now at the point where she doesn’t have to take Tylenol or Advil for the pain. but she is constantly putting wax on them bc they go into her cheek on one side..But I'm sure it will all be worth it…she hopes anyways..they make her look WAY older!!!!  sniff..sniff..

Destiny’s Spring Piano Recital

This past Saturday was Destiny’s piano recital…So the first video was her playing the two songs…The first song was Galloping Ponies..and the second one was Fur Elise…I was nervous for her..I was probably more nervous then she was and I wasn’t even playing..it took me back to about 20 years ago..when I was sitting there waiting to do my piano recital..boy did I hate that..but I never stuck with it.and Destiny has and she has a real talent that God has blessed her with..it just comes naturally to this girl..and she plays so beautiful….especially when no one is watching her..and she just lets it go…she does way better..the first one she did mess up on but I think it was her nerves that got the best of her..

The second video she is playing her favorite..they have a “Our Favorites” section of the recital where they get to pick a favorite..just one they they really love and enjoy playing where you don’t really pay attention to anything and just play..and she picked The Hokey Pokey..and she did way better in this one..but I love to see how far she has come over time..

This summer Brielle is going to start piano lessons too..she really wants to so we will see If she has the music ability in her..I don’t know if she will stick with it but we will see..Destiny has been so determined to play songs from our church book so she practices all the time  bc she knows that it just doesn’t come over night..but I think we are almost there..and she is excited about that..she played one song out of and plays it over and over and over now..but its ok..we are all used to it by now:)

p.s. I had Avery’s second IEP meeting today..hopefully I can update all of you on that later this week.

Destiny got Terrific kid

Way to go Destiny for getting Terrific kid this nine weeks..We are so proud of you!!!  Terrific kid is put on by the  Kiwanis club here..and a girl and a boy from each class is chosen by there teacher each nine weeks to receive it.

Destiny’s Piano Recital

Destiny had her Christmas piano recital today..She did wonderful considering she had a bad case of the nerves..she gets really nervous before she plays..and that in turn makes me really nervous too..my stomach is in knots right before she goes up to play..you would think I was going up to play too..ha!  The two songs that she played for the recital are" “Angels We Have Heard on High”  and “Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer.” Then they get to pick a favorite that they can play and she picked “Jingle Bells.”  We have been listening to these songs since the beginning of October. So its great to finally see her perfect them and play them so beautiful!!  Its amazing to see how far she has come since she started lessons. She has been playing since she was seven.

31 for 21: Day 25 Pictures from Destiny’s Birthday

Pictures from Destiny’s Birthday!! I know this is a little late but better late then never …right;)
Destiny didn’t want a birthday party this year..she just wanted to go to the mall and go get a pedicure with a friend..hey cant complain there…ha! So we headed off to the mall with her and her friend…

In the middle of the mall they have this little jump station….Destiny is pretty reserved when she is on it..especially when u see her friend doing flips and going crazy on it…Destiny wouldn’t even do a flip…Cant say I don’t blame her..I would probably be the same way..actually I probably wouldn’t even go on it..ha!






She said that it was awesome and they definitely shopped til they dropped!!  I was pretty tired when it was time to go home!!  I think that might be a sign that I'm getting old! ha
This year Destiny picked steak again for her meal…with parmesan noodles..and frozen ice cream sandwich dessert..



Brielle wanted to get her something but I just didn’t have time to take her to get something so she went up to her room and found something that she had that she remembered that Destiny said that she liked so she wrapped it up and gave it to her…{she had gotten it out of the prize box at school a couple of weeks earlier…} It was a glass butterfly case!!  She is so creative and so sweet!!! 


We got her a pair of rollerblades...a letter D necklace…that was in the diaper box..I try to trick the girls when we wrap there presents...and some big chew;) I couldn’t believe it my kids had never had it before..I used to LOVE that stuff walking around with a fat lip pretending I had a big ole chew in…don’t tell me I was the only one???!!! ..Ooh  along with candy cigarettes too!!  LOL!! 

Jayla put Destiny’s skates on and got up next the end table and took off but obviously fell down..it was so cute..so then Jared took her skating around the kitchen..and she LOVED it!! 

Cant believe she is ten already!!
