It's been quite the week..

Brielle had a run in with the concrete..she fell off her bike and took a really bad fall..She had been doing so good riding with out training wheels..I thought maybe then she wouldnt want to get back on it for a long time but she was ready to ride her bike the next day..Now if she can get the brakes figured out she will be all set..she tends to drag her feet to try to stop herself then just ends up jumping off and then all u see is her bike trailing off and eventually falling over..or she will pedal faster thinking she is braking and crash..
Wednesday was a pretty eventful day for us too:)) I woke up thinking whew i dont have therapy early this morning thats pretty nice for a change bc usually its at 815 and we have to leave a half an hour early to get there bc that is how long it takes us to get there..so its 815 and Destiny says so we dont have thereapy today or what mom..i told her "no not today..and then she has to ruin my bubble bc she tells me well what about the new therapist..we arent seeing her today either..WHAT??? (i guess it sometimes pays to have kids listen to your conversations all the time) oh yeah and we have to be there at nine so that means we have to be out the house by 830 thats in 15 minutes.. and we are all in our pjs bc we just woke up..Lovely!!! SO we are all running around the house with our heads cut off and we get in the van without any breakfast but the kids are all excited bc they get to go to mcdonalds for breakfast..well mcdonalds had a huge line and we had to go to burger king..(which i hate) but then the kids had to have french toast sticks of course and of course they didnt have any ready so im stuck waiting forever for them..and thats not even all..the icing on the cake..well im almost at therapy and just getting of the exit and there was an suv in front of me and it let off there brakes so i thought they were going and i turn my head to look to see if i could go and CRASH!!!! Yeap I hit the Car...they obviously decided to brake instead of go..urrrghhhh!!!! So luckily i didnt do any damage to there car and i took a nice triangle out of the front of my car i think the worst of it was Brielle screaming bc she got scared and her food went flying everywhere so she was upset that she didnt get to eat her food..so we get to thereapy 10 minutes late..nice way to make a first impression on a new therapist huh?? (Avery got a new SPeech therapist bc the other one got promoted to a different level so im a little nervous to see how it is going to go) we will see:))

Now for Avery well of course there is something going on with her too:P She has ANOTHER ingrown toenail!! This time its her pinky one..can someone please tell me why she is gettting this all the time..i guess not all the time but this is the second time..i know its not how i cut her toenails bc i dont cut them hardly ever bc they dont ever grow..im not sure how this one is going to turn out it just started getting red and puffy last night and then she couldnt sleep in the middle of the night i think bc she was in pain..today it was getting bigger and a little black and blue so i tried to lift her toenail up a little bit but not sure if it helped i guess will have to wait and see how it is after she wakes up from her nap..well that pretty much wraps up a week at the West house!!! I hope you all have had a better week:P

Check out her left eye (if looking at her ) can u see how its puffy above her eye around her eyebrow..it got like that almost instantly...

That night it moved down and when she woke up her whole eye was puffy and not on her eyebrow anymore..strange i thought!!

The swelling has finally come down a little bit so she can open it most of the way now

Miss Avery

At least every other time Avery is in her car seat she gets herself into this and then gets mad bc she cant get her legs back down..:P

Avery just being super cute and she knew it...

and then she's giving us a little bit of attitude..nope she didnt want them back on..so she crossed her arms..:D

Picnic in the park

The other day we had a picnic at this little pond i guess..im not really even sure how to describe the place..Its actually a Milliken (sp?) Plant i think..(Carmen u can help me out on that:)) But anyways for the last 1 1/2 yr i guess everytime we drive by there on our way to therapy i have told my girls that someday we would take a picnic there and they could feed the ducks..well better late then never..right:)) We had so much fun my only regret is that we didnt go sooner..The minute we stepped out of our van the ducks started quacking and walking up to us..and then they just followed us to where we had our picnic and they just came right up to us and pretty much kept begging until they got some food..and then of course there were some fish that would jump and i really wish i would of got a picture of this HUGE fish while we were there..i have never seen anything big..well heres a few pictures..

Check out Brielle she is more worried about the duck..she always had to have her eye on the ducks nad make sure they werent going to get her...:)) And them collecting there duck feathers..what do they want with duck feathers..i dont know:P but i wasnt going to stomp on there fun..

Avery saying "OOOOO" at first she was pretty nervous to even eat bc of the ducks but towards the end she got better and liked to watch them.

By the way i never did get a picture of all the ducks but there were alot more then a couple.there were tons!!! After awhile we had tons of geese come over too and then they thought they were going to get all the food..and hissed at all the other ducks..

Anyone with children MUST READ!!!

New playground surface proves to be too hot for toddler’s feet

(This happen to my cousin Lana's boy..he is actually the same one that was born the same day as Avery)

A 2-year-old Gillette toddler suffered second-degree burns to the bottom of his feet after he went barefoot on a recycled rubber playground surface last week.Christian Gaskins was playing at Dalbey Memorial Park near the restrooms after a picnic lunch June 29. His baby sitter was near as he ran on the grass. She was watching when his bare feet touched the rubber at the playground and he started screaming as the hot fabric seared his skin.It was just before 1 p.m. The temperature was in the 90s outside — one of Gillette’s hottest days this summer.White blisters immediately appeared on the bottom of Christian’s tiny feet.At the hospital’s emergency room, Christian was treated for second-degree burns and was given morphine to help ease his pain. The pain was so intense, he screamed for an hour straight, said his parents, Lana Randen-Gaskins and Cory Gaskins. For a couple of days, he couldn’t walk.Gaskins went to the park two hours after the incident and took the temperature of the rubber surface with a thermal image gun he had from work. The floor was a scorching 150 degrees. The baby sitter felt horrible, Randen-Gaskins said. The next day, the woman went back to the park to look for signs cautioning parents about the danger. There were none.“The worst part of it was my baby sitter is a very good baby sitter,” Randen-Gaskins said.At the emergency room, a nurse contacted the city, and parks supervisor Shay Lundvall came and spoke to the family. Randen-Gaskins said Lundvall told them that the city was looking into the incident and would be in contact with them. As of Tuesday evening, Gaskins said he hadn’t heard back from anybody with the city.Public Works Director Rick Staskiewicz said it was the first he’s heard of an accident of this nature occurring in Gillette’s parks. The city put the new recycled rubber surface down in the past two months, he said.
If the city officials had known about the safety risk the flooring poses in the summer heat, they wouldn’t have approved it for the park, Staskiewicz said. The city is investigating the matter and contacting the manufacturer of the recycled rubber floor mats. Staskiewicz didn’t know if a sign will be posted cautioning adults about the potentially hot surface.“We’re waiting to gather all our information at this time,” he said.Gaskins said he and his wife just want to prevent something like this from happening to other families.“That’s all I asked them to do. If nothing else just put up a sign,” Gaskins said.City Administrator Mike Muirhead said the city takes all citizen complaints seriously.“We’re looking into it. It’s no different than any other situation,” Muirhead said. The playground had tree bark on the ground before the rubber mat was installed, said city spokesman Joe Lunne. After the accident, the Gaskins searched on the Internet for “burns from playground surfaces or mats.” Thousands of results came up in other areas of the nation where the same thing had happened on hot days, Gaskins said. He read of one instance in which the playground mat was 175 degrees and the child had third-degree burns. The playground flooring was sticking to the child’s feet.Gaskins wonders why the city didn’t look into safety risks before they allowed it for the playgrounds.Randen-Gaskins wants to spread the word about the rubber flooring — something neither she nor her baby sitter had heard of or thought about. Even if people hear just once about it happening, they will become more aware, she said.“I just think a piece of it is reading about it and then thinking, is it too hot for my child?” she said. “My son’s feet will probably have scars on them. We were lucky that it was just his feet.”Kids fall at the playground all the time. Had that happened, it could have been Christian’s face, Randen-Gaskins said.Christian’s baby sitter did a great job handling the accident, Gaskins said. She responded well. If she hadn’t put cold water on his feet right away, it might have been worse, he said.Christian’s feet are healing. His feet are still peeling and could be for another week. Right after the accident, every two days Christian went back to the doctor for the blisters to be popped, cleaned and re-bandaged, Gaskins said. Twice a day, he changes his son’s bandages.Except for his bandages, he’s back to being a normal 2-year-old. However, he’s now reluctant to take off his shoes when he goes outside, Gaskins said.“My whole point is not to place a blame,” Randen-Gaskins said. “My concern is that it doesn’t happen again.”
